Modularised Training

Pedagogy of foundational learning and early literacy

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 accords the highest priority to achieving Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN).The NIPUN Bharat initiative of the State has been recently launched as a mission to ensure proficient foundational literacy and numeracy among all children by 2025. This mission views FLN as gateway skills with Learning to Read being viewed as an essential foundation for Reading to Learn. Several data sources have shown that each year an estimated 6 million children complete 8 years of compulsory schooling in India with alarmingly low learning levels. This is in fact being referred to as ‘the learning crisis’ with the mainstream education discourse.

Aim of the course

This course aims to equip educators with conceptually sound and practical classroom practices to support high quality Foundational Learning through real time classroom filming

Why OELP ?

Through our sustained engagement inside classroom OELP realised the need to focus on Foundational Learning in 2015. We have engaged inside resource poor, rural Government school classrooms and developed a conceptually sound and doable Foundational Learning programme which is showing results. The State Government of Rajasthan has recognised our work and signed a four year MoU with OELP to support FLN programmes in seven districts.
